At the Glasgow Complementary Medicine Centre in Park Circus the Hypnotherapy Department is run by Brian Fleming, who is both a Hypnotherapist and a classical Homeopath. Brian Fleming has over 30 years experience as a clinician and stresses the part played by sympathy, empathy and rapport in his clinical work. The Hypnotherapy clinic is both a busy and popular one and on an average day at the clinic we will see people who are having problems with fears, phobias, anxieties, addictions, weight control and lack of confidence. Hypnotherapy may also be used to help with sporting and performance related activities.
Your Hypnotherapy Session
Your hypnotherapy session may be different from what you expect or what you have been led to believe will happen. It will bear no resemblance to stage hypnotism done as entertainment. At no time will you be required to relinquish your self control to the control of the hypnotist. You will always be aware of what is happening and at if at any time the hypnotherapist does or says anything that you do not like you are perfectly free to discontinue the session. Hypnotism is neither sleep nor mind control but rather it is collaboration between a healthcare professional and a client requiring help with life issues. During this collaboration your fully trained and experienced professional hypnotherapist will guide the client into the hypnotic trance, that peaceful inner place where the therapist can help strengthen and promote the life enhancing decisions and changes that the client is attempting to make.
During the session, the hypnotherapist will take a detailed case history relevant to you, initially to determine the nature of the problem that has brought the client to hypnotherapy. On completion of the session the hypnotherapist may give the client homework to do. This will often take the form of self hypnosis techniques, given both to back up the work done at the hypnotherapy session by the hypnotherapist and as a way of reinforcing the client's decision for lifestyle changes.
For some situations only one session will be needed but for deep seated or longstanding problems further sessions may be required.
